(216) 800 in Cleveland, OH

wants to know who owns this number

Calls my mobile just long enough to make an entry in my phone log and / or ring my phone for 1/2 a sec (I'm supposing that the idea is that, one will see the number begining with one's area code (tends to put one's mind more at ease) followed-by 800 (again, ''FREE'' tends to put one's mind at ease -- catch one off guard) in the hopes that one will call them back (courtesy?, recon the number??, etc.); THEN, that way, they have their ''mark'' attempting to call them, which excuses their previous intrusion and now puts responsibility (''… hey dude, you called us …'') on their ''mark's'' shoulders (and in some case, such as ''info gathering / ID hi-jacking scam-artists'' they have the fact that the number calling them back IS legitimately owned by a real person somewhere, which, when paired with ''other'' info, gets them one step closer to hacking / scamming the person using that person's PII.)) For these reasons (and others) I don't call them back, but prefer to research 1st, on the 'net. I will update this comment if I ever have occaison (disposable / temp-travel phone??) to call them OR, if I find-out more info. Until then, THIS will have to suffice.
