Received a call from these guys, saying they represent Microsoft ant they were receiving a number of emails and texts from my computer reporting problems. They asked if it was running slower lately and if I have been seeing a number of errors. At that time, I was working on my wife's computer, running Windows Defender to wipe out a malicious virus that had somehow attached itself to it. At the mention of my running that application, they were very quick to get off the phone with me.
The caller ID said they were from Ohio.

Caller is claiming to be representing Microsoft and is telling me that my computer is full of Virus' and Malware. They claim my PC is contacting them and that they can help clean my PC. Being an IT guy, I kept pressing them for information that they were not able to provide.

We received a few calls from this number before today but was not picking it up because it was not recognized as coming from any one we knew. Now that we were able to find out what they were saying we knew that it was not Microsoft representing company for them with a problem with your computer... Watch out people!!! It indeed is not who they say they are representing. Pass it along as soon as possible.... Thanks for this info. And site to report these things.
