Tried claiming to have my lost cat. "This is Michael Sehr of the Animal Control and Animal Cruelty Care Center. Can I send a 6 digit number? It is associated with Animal control centre. This will ensure that you are not a fake. Then, I will give you the picture and the address to take it to"

I had a text someone with that number looked me up

I keep getting messages from this number (as well as a few others), claiming to be from "Kaplan Mediation/Investigation Group", alleging that the person they are looking for is a "person of interest in an ongoing investigation confirming an identity." The person leaving the message is a "Melinda Brown" but yet when I called the number back, I also reached a male claiming to be the "lead investigator" who then proceeded to ask me for the case no. and the number that was called. He also asked me for my work/cell no. as well as home address which, of course, I did not provide to him. The calls are getting more and more threatening in nature although I asked them to stop, especially since I am not the person they are looking for but just simply have the same last name as that person. Short of blowing a gasket, what can I do to stop them from harrassing me and my family?
