The person calling had a foreign Indian?) accent and claimed to be with Spectrum. He said his name was Tom. He knew our names, address and how much our monthly bill was. He was representing a Spectrum promotion to lower our monthly bills by just over $30. In order to get the promo, we had to pay the next months bill over the phone and we would not have to pays the next bill we received through the mail. I suckered and gave him my credit card number and and about $240. We immediately called Spectrum after the payment to find out if they had such a promotion. "No we don't. You've been scammed." Damn. My name is Roger Szeszulski and our phone number (landline) is 989-832-2574. We don't usually answer calls if we don't recognize a name or number, but tour caller I.D. stated it was a local (Midland, MI) number. I did immediately call our credit union to state that we'd just been scammed and to close that credit card account. "Tom" had not yet tried to use my card number for any purchases.
