My caller tried to convince me that he was a Microsoft Technician, and that he'd received a report that my computer had been compromised. He then walked me through several steps, the last of which would have had me installing a remote-desktop software. He claimed that he would help "remove" the piece of malware that was "worse than a virus", which would be missed by both Avast and Spybot. I first checked the website using Google, and on seeing it was safe checked it out. Apparently, their software is very popular among phishing scammers: they have an entire page dedicated to warning users about them. www.ammyy.com/en/admin_mu.html
