(631) 282 in Yaphank, NY

I began getting calls from a 631 area code last year. The woman was obviously from India and kept calling me to tell me my Con Edison bill was overdue and my service would be disrupted. The number she called from could not be called back or searched. I do live in Queens but I live in a Co-op that has it's own power plant. I've never had a Con Edison account. After several calls I finally told her I would report her to the police, FCC and FTC. The calls stopped. Today I got a call from a man at 631-282-8397 offering to reduce my electric bill and claiming to be associated with Con Ed. I told him I am on the "Do not call" list and he was breaking the law. Con Edison says they have no division of this nature. Surprise. This is a scam so please don't fall for it.

This telemarketer calls virtually every evening at our dinner hour 4:00to6:00 PM EST attempting to sign us up for some energy company, promising to reduce our electric rates. Our # has been on the FTC "Do Not Call" list since June 2003 and apparently these jerks don't care. Maybe the Feds can do something about them Matt Landy
