On the morning of June 25, 2022, I awoke to find that I had received several harassing texts to my phone over WhatsApp and both calls and texts to my personal phone. In the process of trying to check my Facebook account to see if I had been hacked, I found that I could not access my Facebook account or my Yahoo email account. Each time I attempted to access my account, it triggered a notification to the person, who had removed my phone number from my profiles and added this one. They then began to batter me with repetitive phone calls and texts, one of which said, "stop trying to get into your accounts, I have your Facebook and Yahoo" and another, which addressed me by name saying, "Wake up so we can discuss business". I took this "business" to mean that they were looking for payment to get my accounts back or to avoid further harassment. I do not know this number or this person and felt quite threatened. Finally, I deleted my WhatsApp account, blocked this phone number and was able to access my Facebook and Yahoo accounts using an alternate email address I had on file. I then removed the extortionist's phone number, replacing it with my own and changing my passwords. I also found that they had sent a phishing message posing as me to a family member through Facebook Messenger. I alerted all of my friends/followers that I had been hacked and to also change their passwords. I was quite shaken by this situation for the remainder of the day and want this person to be held responsible. Thank you.
